Master the Art.
Transform the Self.
Traditional Kalarippayattu and Kalari Marma massage at one of the oldest surviving kalaris in Kerala.
Our history
PB Kalari Sangham is one of the oldest existing kalaris in Kerala, with a history dating back some 200 years. Originally based in Alappuzha, it was brought to Thrissur in 1922 by Samuel Gurukkal, son of Chacko Gurukkal, at the invitation of the Kochi Maharaja, who wanted his soldiers trained in Kalarippayattu. Samuel Gurukkal was a renowned master of vital points (marmavidya), Kalarippayattu and Kalari Marma massage.
Under Higgins Master, son of Samuel Gurukkal, PB Kalari became a renowned institution, crossing national boundaries and winning recognition around the world. Today the art is carried on by Ringo Higgins, son of Higgins Master, assisted by his wife Swapna Ringo and daughter Serah Ringo Higgins.
PB Kalari is proud to continue this ancient tradition while adapting to the needs of modern practice. Students build strength, flexibility and mental focus, and come to understand the rich cultural heritage of Kerala.
